Literal meaning: She is my friend.
Actual meaning: I have a crush on this girl and I’m just waiting for the right moment to persuade her to cheat on her boyfriend.

2) “Ella es mi amiga,” – said with a guarded expression and emphasis on the final word.

Literal meaning: She is my friend.
Actual meaning: I’ve been dating this girl for weeks now and we’ve got to the awkward stage where she thinks I’m her boyfriend, but I’m not sure about it.

3) “Ella es mi amiga,” – said with a serious ‘trust me’ smile and a deep stare into your eyes.

Literal meaning: She is my friend.
Actual meaning: I’m married to this woman and we have three children.
